Salesians and Education

Abstract

The article talks about the Salesians and their activity in the educational and scholastic field. At the start it deals with Don Bosco and his first efforts that he made regarding oratories, gardens of recreation, evening schools and diumes, hospices and agricultural colonies. Next the article talks about Valdoeco and the beginnings of the oratory, of the boarding school with family style, of the laboratories that then were transformed into vocational schools and liberal arts schools of popular character. There is also talk of the Congregation and its point of view on the schools, which it has managed or currently manages. We also wanted to highlight the interest of the Congregation Salesian on the future of schools. One of the following points deals with the educational and scholastic activity of the Salesians in Poland. Yes starts from 1898, the year of the arrival of the first Salesians in Poland and ends in 1989, the year in which the remarkable changes were made in Poland, including on the educational field. Some statistical data are also cited regarding schools run by the Salesians and their number of pupils.
