Christian democracy and liberal democracy are found in constant dialogue. It's a dialogue that takes place first of all on the individual and social rights of citizens in the state democratic. Theoretical differences stand out in the history of the construction of democracy both in the context of various political philosophies, as well as within liberalism itself, in which distinguishes between classical and modern liberalism. A particularly interesting problem concerns the different concepts of freedom. In the studio present was taken into consideration the concept of liberty in the liberal sense as well the Christian one, characteristic for the social science of the Church. To find the dots that connect both concepts of freedom, Michael Novak proposes to analyze in the liberal system, beyond the political freedom, moral freedom, as an ideal to which every true citizen of the state aspires. In this sense the positive law is rooted in morality at the level of the ideal. Church social science criticizes the negative concept of freedom in liberalism, which excludes its positive concept. The moral concept of freedom, beyond the political concept, corresponds – according to M. Novak – to positive freedom according to the social science of the Church. This proposal of the analysis of the liberal concept of freedom serves to find the field of reconciliation between liberalism and the social science of the Church.
