Abstract

A new look at the preventive system of St John Bosco is given by the Council Vatican II. Vatican II has called religious institutes to return to evangelical sources and allo original spirit adapting to the changing circumstances of the time, and taking an active part in life of the church. Taking these suggestions into consideration, the Salesians made an analysis criticism of his mission during the session of the 20th General Chapter, called „special” (10 VI 1971–5 I 1972) and during the following chapter held in 1978. The ways of renewing the system preventive measures have been oriented towards a more radical interest of poor youth and abandoned due to the new phenomenon of poverty and lack of respect for the dignity of the human person and towards giving greater value to the catechetical-evangelizing dimension. This has allowed the Salesians to deal with the most concrete problems of the world youth that requires special care and dedicated educators.
