Abstract

Beatification of the first Salesian martyrs, Bishop Versiglia and Fr. Carravario, May 15 1983, prompted us to look for other names of Salesians who gave their lives for the faith in the lands mission. In the various books I received from Don M. Rassiga in Hong Kong, I found eight others the names of the confreres who suffered and were killed in China for Christo: Fr. Matkovcs († 1945), Fr. Larento Faccini († 1945), Fr. Munda († 1945), Fr. Fu Yuk Tong († 1945), Fr. Yeh Ming Zen († 1952), Fr. Leung Shu Chi († 1956), Fr. Yeh Shuen Tin († 1976), Fr. Lamazzi (died 1982). In Vietnam he was killed by communist partisans don Dupont († 1945). In Brazil lost their lives: Rev. Thannhuber († 1920) Fr. Fuch00s and Fr. Sacilotti († 1934), Fr. Lunkenbein (died 1976). Three years ago a Salesian missionary was killed in Angola (Africa) by partisans communists, Don Fonseca Calvo († 1991). Their lives and martyrdom are the glory of the Congregation, but also the "seed" (tertulian) in the territories of the Salesian missions.
