Abstract

The article claims to be a sort of reflection on the axiolgic dimension of Europe. This continent differs from others not only by geographical or national criteria, but first of all by a community of culture and values, European heritage in this area has been shaped by the Hellenic thought (manifesting itself through Socratic ability and evil through democracy), Christian (the personalism, the value of the nation, the meaning of the suffrane), Latin (the unity and universalism of culture), finally by modern thought (pluralism, emphasis on freedom). The sphere axiology has recently undergone a dynamization (since 1989) in the context of the fall of Marxism and an effort to interpret it. All of this brings up new requirements from the old heritage - securing and protecting democracy, respecting the common good and more particularly of the integral truth of the human person.
