Abstract

This article, entitled „The Salesian Family in Latin America”, presents in the first part the history of the Salesian presence in this continent, in the other part the various sectors of the activity of Salesian Family in Latin America: education in the faith in Salesian churches and schools, the movements youth, missionary work among primitive peoples, the scientific contribution of Salesian missionaries, the Salesians and marginalized youth, the Salesians and politics, the Salesian Family in the world of pain, the Salesians and the media, the Salesian founders of the various congregations, Salesian holiness. Every day the Salesians and the FMA nuns make contact with around 600,000 young people in the various schools and with 400,000 young people in the various youth centers and oratories. The Church has recognized the work pastoral and educational of the Salesians in Latin America by currently appointing almost 60 bishops and 2 cardinals.
