Abstract

This article examines the role of parents in religious education in relation to the need for security. This is a significant pedagogical challenge, and contemporary social and cultural changes further complicate the situation. This reflection is the result of research primarily in family studies, grounded in pedagogical, psychological, sociological, and theological assumptions. The research goal of this study is to demonstrate the relationship between the roles of father and mother in family religious education and the fulfillment of the need for security. This goal was achieved by characterizing the family’s sociocultural context, describing the need for security in the child’s life, presenting the study’s results, and developing practical parenting conclusions. The analysis of research and scientific texts enabled us to formulate recommendations for parents to adopt an appropriate approach to prayer, avoid coercion, respect the child’s religious desires, speak positively about God, and care for their own development. The conclusion emphasizes the need for both parents’ involvement as a source of security and a model of faith. The key is building faith on a foundation of love and parental authenticity.
