Abstract

The paper considers moral aspects of old age, which is neglected by contemporary science. There are many medical, economical and sociological analysis, but ethical investigations of this life stage are avoided. The starting point of this philosophical analisiys is Aristotle`s definition of old age from “Rhetoric”, where he describes it as a set of moral vices. Aristotle`s definition is usually misunderstood by the commentaries on this topic. The article explains that the specific moral task of elderly man is a confrontation with own moral evil. The own past can bring some specific moral vices, descibed by Aristotle, only if there is no possibility to oveturn evil. But this is the Christian promise of the salvation of man from sins.
