Abstract

Each of us is a participant in the virtual world and a media user. However, we differ in our commitment to this area and the way we use the available tools. We are also not always aware of how the media world is transforming and what effects it has, encroaching deeper and deeper into our lives. The article shows the challenges in the media world that are currently facing the family – especially parents. They bear responsibility for both their own media activity and the education of their children in this area. Therefore, the article describes parents’ desirable and undesirable behaviour, the threats posed by the Internet to children, and the ways of preventing them. Nowadays, family life is created by new technologies and media, but only their responsible use will preclude them from taking over the entire space, affecting mutual contacts, and violating family values.
