In this article, the author examines ten songs from Otton Mieczysław Żukowski’s collection "Marian Songs," Op. 80, from the perspective of their religious themes and musical language. Semantically, the songs center around the figure of Mary, portrayed as the Immaculate Virgin, Mediatrix, and Sorrowful Mother, to whom the faithful direct prayers, petitions, and professions of faith. The lyrics emphasize the concept of entrustment and intercession to Mary, and her role in the lives of individuals and communities, also encompassing patriotic and sodalitarian themes. Musical analysis, in turn, reveals the diverse arrangements of the songs for choir or solo voice with organ. The entire work demonstrates the close connection between text and music and establishes a remarkable symbiosis of the spiritual realm, tradition, and cultural heritage.
