Abstract

This paper describes the reforms of American religious sisters started by
Pius XII until the recent closure of Archbishop Peter Sartain’s commission.
The paper shows how the reforms of congregations were taken up before
and after the Council and how the two organisations representing American
sisters were founded. The continual dissent of LCWR from Church
teachings is shown in contrast to the fidelity of the alternative canonical
organization, namely CMSWR. The lack of new vocations among LCWR
sisters is a sign of mistaken reforms and the lack of attractive power in
their political agenda.
