Preparation of Students for the Modern Labour Market in Polish Secondary Schools (on the Example of Mechatronic Technical School)

Abstract

The article presents the results of own research in polish high school whose aim was to gain the knowledge of the role of vocational subjects teachers in preparing the student for the modern labour market. The research problem was the preparation of the technical school student to appear and function in the current labor market and its relation to the role of the vocational teacher in the opinion of students. A focus research method was used, in which the research technique was a focus interview. The meeting of the focus group consisting of five people lasted one hour. The participants were third-grade students of a technical school. The research was conducted in 2022. The article discusses the educational and professional plans of students after completing the technical school, the effects of education making students competitive in today's labour market, the opinion of students about the vocational subjects teachers in terms of preparing them to follow a profession, the involvement of students in learning a profession, and also presents the level of knowledge of the current labour market and employer expectations.
