Abstract

At the heart of G. Lohfink's theology is the kingdom of God. The eschatology of the present elaborated by him foresees the tension between "already" and "not yet", which manifests itself in different ways. Above all in man's weakness and sin but also in the history of the Church as a society and in the rejection of Israel, which did not accept Jesus as a Messiah as a whole. From God's point of view one can only speak of the "already". The "not yet" of the kingdom of God depends exclusively on man's refusal. The concept of the kingdom of God according to G. Lohfink is opposed to individualism and exclusivism. The kingdom of God is a social project open to all those who accept Jesus' message. The ethos of Jesus does not address the isolated individual because he is unable to carry this yoke but points to one of the people of God and asks for a social dimension: the community and the communion of life and destinies. The realization of this project reveals the holiness of God and becomes a sign of salvation for all peoples.
