Abstract

Starting from a historical overview of the intellectual formation of the clergy from the Middle Ages on then, Prof. Stefano Rosso SDB, intended to show how the Bible and the liturgy have always been understood as the nucleus of the “professional” subjects of the presbyter. The SC and the OT are placed in continuity with this tradition, even if, as already in the teaching imparted in the seminars by the Council of Trento onwards, they must be integrated with the humanistic-philosophical ones, then become systematic for theological disciplines, and today also for anthropological disciplines. In his „updating“ Vatican II insisted on their basic unity, which is rooted in the history of salvation as a reflection on the revealed datum.
