Abstract

One of the fruit of the great Jubilee of the Year 2000 was the papal call to the sainthood (Novo millenio ineunte, 30). Among ways of realization of this aim the Pope mentions practicing „the spirituality of Communion” (NMI, 43). In 2003 the papal appeal became undertaken by Salesian Congregation and the Salesian Family. This article is an attempt to reveal the possibility of realization the papal call to the sainthood on the way of building „the spirituality of communion” on the basis of Salesian’s model of the priesthood of the young people. Its principle carrier is the educative and pastoral community which according to the spirit of communion and joint responsibility for the realization of St John Bosco's mission within concrete objective joins into one: the strength, wishes, and efforts of Salesians, Salesian sisters, lay members of the Salesian Family, and the young people. Salesian’s inspiration for such approach “ad case” remains the Don Bosco's community of oratory in Valdocco. Nowadays, the success of the mission in local educative and pastoral community depends mainly on whether they will make the “spirituality of communion” the heart of the animation of their own actions. In addition to this challenge, Salesian Family must take care for the extension of responsibilities of the lay for the Salesian’s work, the greater joint responsibility of all bodies of the local educative and pastoral community, the proper communication among them, and suitable formation for them.
