Abstract

It is very difficult for parents to receive an unsuccessful prenatal diagnosis of their own unborn child. When the parents receive the test results, they feel confused and scared, and many questions about the child and his illness appear in their minds. This article aims to show the problems and needs of parents in such a difficult situation, as well as to draw attention to the non-medical aspects of supporting parents. Particularly important considerations in this area are carried out on the basis of a relatively new subdiscipline of pedagogy, which is prenatal pedagogy. A very important response to the needs of parents are perinatal hospices, which, based on the philosophy of life affirmation, shape their attitudes and give the opportunity to experience very important parental experiences.
