Abstract

The subject of the studies undertaken was the functioning of families with disa-bled children in the psychosocial area. The qualitative studies included 8 family environments where a child with a legally confirmed disability was being raised. For the purpose of the study, the individual case study method and such research techniques as narrative interview and projective technique (letter to a parent expecting the birth of a disabled child) were used. The analysis also included such issues as disability-related burden and difficulties, the perception of stressful situations, as well as the resources of the family and their adaptation capabilities.
