RULES FOR COMPILING BIBLIOGRAPHIES, CITATIONS AND FOOTNOTES

APPLICABLE TO THE JOURNAL «PRAWO KANONICZNE»

The Editorial Board accepts only those articles whose authors have formatted their work in accordance with the rules specified below.

Bibliographic Formatting Requirements

  • The bibliography and references should be prepared according to the Chicago Style (The Chicago Manual of Style, the Author-Date Style), including full bibliographic information for each cited source: edition, place of publication, and publisher.

  • Citations and references to the literature and sources used should appear in parentheses within the text, indicating the author’s surname, year of publication, and page numbers. If the citation covers several bibliographic items, they are separated by semicolons and listed in alphabetical order (Kijas 2021, 20; Urrutia 1992, 15).

  • Footnotes should be used only to supplement the main argument of the text (for explanations, comments, observations, or additional information provided by the author).

  • The DOI identifier assigned to a publication should be included in the bibliography (Kijas, Zdzisław J. 2021. “Migration – Ecumenism – Integration.” Ecumeny & Law 9(1): 7-23. https://doi.org/10.31261/EaL.2021.09.1.01).

  • The following abbreviations should not be used: ibid., idem, op. cit.

  • Technical words in the bibliographic entry (and, in, ed., transl., …) are written in English.

  • To help authors in arranging the list of cited publications, the editorial team recommends using the Zotero application. Zotero uses Citation Style Language (CSL) to properly format citations and a list of references in many citation styles (Chicago, MLA, APA, Vancouver, etc.).  These tools are only an aid; the journal does not endorse any specific commercial product, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all citations and references.

  • If AI-assisted tools are used to support language editing or formatting, this must be declared in the Acknowledgments section, in accordance with the journal’s AI Policy.
