Abstract

The article presents the significance and course of the decanal conferences, which familiarised the clergy of the Diocese of Częstochowa with the resolutions of the First Polish Plenary Synod. Scheduled by the Diocesan Curia, the conferences were also aimed at reflecting on their practical application in the life of the parish. Special attention was paid to the variety of topics addressed during the conferences, i.e. formation of the clergy, engagement of lay Catholics, key aspects of parish records in the context of pastoral care, questions concerning the construction of the Catholic House emphasising its importance in the work of Catholic Action in the parish and pointing out the practical aspects of its construction. The reception of the resolutions of the synod was also examined in the context of the preparation of children for First Holy Communion. The text discusses questions concerning the concordat and the duties of the clergy towards the state, i.a. priests' active participation in public life. Quotes from specific decanal discussions showing the priests' involvement in the interpretation and implementation of the synodal resolutions is a further added value of the article.
