In this article, the author takes a closer look at selected correspondence of Małgorzata Gablenzowa, widow of the composer Jerzy Gablenz, to her son Tomasz. The cited fragments of letters date from 1939–1952 and are kept in the National Library in Warsaw.
The preserved correspondence becomes an eloquent testimony to the efforts made, despite various difficulties, to save Jerzy Gablenz's work from oblivion; to ensure that the composer and the works he left behind were present in the consciousness of Poles; to ensure that this work was talked about and was present in concert programs and opera repertoires.
