Abstract

The issue of transsexualism in the teaching of the Catholic Church, taken as the subject of this analysis, allowed the author to establish several observations with a philosophical and canonical background. Firstly, in the literature on the subject, this topic focuses on such issues as: a) the exact causes of transsexualism are not known; b) the importance of social models for the formation of young people's sexual attitudes; c) the Catholic dignity of the human person; d) what is gender correction; e) what does relationship satisfaction (sexual and personal) depend on? Secondly, the objectivity of the ethical content and canonical conclusions is based on the deduction that the doctrinal position of the Catholic Church on the issue of preventing transsexual persons from marrying has its adequate justification in terms of philosophy and religion, but also in terms of biological (medical, psychological, etc.). Thirdly, satisfaction with a relationship is a concept that refers to subjective content, so testimonies about the happiness of transsexual people must be perceived in the face of other personal and social values, e.g. the values of faith and salvation, obedience to God and his revealed will.
