Abstract

If, according to the UN and numerous international organizations, as well as the governments of modern countries themselves, one of the key problems that pose a challenge to the modern world is entering the path of sustainable development, then the fundamental question is how this can be done? E.g. This assumption will obviously also affect the condition of the modern family, which is exposed to various crises and challenges due to various selfishness, attitudes and unhealthy or selfish consumption. The point is that this concept is presented as something epochal (even a new civilization), as something that determines the value of human behavior in general, i.e. from the point of view of ethics and morality. It was even adopted into the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, where in Art. 5, we read that it is „the leading principle of Polish policy”. In other words, if economic and social development is to be regulated by the protection of the natural environment, under the slogan: „ensuring the quality of life of current and future generations”, then the author of the article, based on traditional Catholic ethics, proposes applying the Aristotelian principle of the „golden mean” to European policies (used today). In his opinion (referring to philosophical and ethical literature), this is a necessary condition for the protection of the dignity of the Catholic family and every family (in the economic sphere, but not only) to be preserved.
