Abstract

The text discusses the political and cultural significance of the marriage of Janusz Radziwiłł to Maria Lupulówna in 1645, daughter of the Moldavian hospodar Vasile Lupu. The wedding, celebrated in Iași by Bishop Piotr Mohyła, was an exceptional case of a Lithuanian magnate marrying a Moldavian princess. The event had political and propagandistic dimensions, preserved in a manuscript in the Radziwiłł Archive and later published in Theatrum Europaeum. The ceremony was lavish, attended by diplomats, envoys, and illustrated accounts of the participants.
