Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of Storia di mia vita by Jan Gorczyca, a Polish author who has been living in Italy for many years and who made his debut on the literary market in 2024 by publishing his memoirs in Italian. The analysis focuses on the concept of home due to the author’s unusual personal situation, i.e. his homelessness. Based on studies on Italian migration literature, interviews with the author, reviews of his novel, and statistical data, an attempt is made to answer the question of what it means for an immigrant to settle down in a situation of homelessness, how the concept of a nomadic home can be applied to Gorczyca’s case, and how literary creation participates in the process of assimilation.
