Pseudo-events in the process of creating a political image

Abstract

Pseudo-events – media happenings organized by political actors – are considered one of the key manifestations of their communicative pragmatism. The purpose of the article is to present ways of using pseudo-events in the process of creating the image of Polish politicians. The research material consists of media messages from the main Internet portals in Poland and posts from the profiles of politicians on social networks, which have the character of report from pseudo-events. Using media content analysis, four popular image creations resulting from political pseudo-events were identified: politician-employee, politician-social worker, politician-athlete and politician-host.
