Poland’s National Security Council is an advisory body to the President of the Republic of Poland in the scope of the domestic and external security of the Polish State, as currently laid down in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland. It is a collegial body, and its exact composition and mode of operation are determined by the President. The members of the Council include the Prime Minister, the Marshals of the Sejm and Senate, as well as the most important ministers performing tasks in the scope of state security, that is, the Minister of National Defence, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration. The President convenes meetings of the National Security Council at his discretion. Since the outbreak of the full-scale Russian–Ukrainian conflict on February 24, 2022, the National Security Council has been regularly convened several times a year. The main topic of its deliberations is the war in Ukraine and related security issues concerning the Republic of Poland and NATO operations in the event of a threat from the Russian Federation.
