Abstract

The periodical „Barwa i Rysunek” was published in Poznan between 1928 and 1932. Initially, it was a supplement to „Gazeta Malarska”, a monthly magazine of the Union of Painters’ and Decorators’ Guild. Since 1929, the School of Decorative Arts in Poznan (now the University of the Arts) issued it. The articles were prepared mostly by the students, teachers, and even journalists and critics from outside the school. Papers described other schools that shared similar profiles, they also discussed artistic movements, disciplines, and techniques, along with current artistic events, art history, and theoretical issues, an important addition was illustrations i.e. works of students, professors, and various artists. As the archives of the School of Decorative Arts were almost destroyed, the periodical has remained an important testimony of the history of artistic education.
