The aim of the article is to present the application of the project method at work with children with mild intellectual disability – with students of grades 1-3 of primary schools. The study consists of three parts. The first describes the project method in the theoretical aspect. In the second, the project method was presented regarding aspects of creativity. The theoretical and creative aspect of the project method was used to write the third part of the article, which presents its practical dimension - A place where I function and create. The work plan was created by students of Special Pedagogy at the Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and partly modified by me. The project has already been partially implemented in activities with students, and the fundamental conclusion that emerges from practice is that the project method work is an amazing tool to develop knowledge (ways to protect forests from littering), skills (creative thinking and action) and social competences (cooperation, communication, responsibility for task performance and sensitivity) of students with intellectual disabilities.
