Abstract

The aim of the article was to present the model of biblical catechesis according to Zbigniew
Marek SJ. This type of catechesis must make it possible for the biblical text itself to speak
and for its call to be heard by those being catechized. The basic goals and tasks of biblical
catechesis refer to the principle adopted in contemporary hermeneutics which teaches that
„the biblical text can only be properly understood by those who have experienced what
the text says.” This will be possible when, just like the Jesuit from Krakow, the catechist is
distinguished by three features: attention to the person (the catechized one), the ability to
discern (interpretation and updating of the biblical message) and sensitivity consisting in
listening to the impulses (sensitivity of believers) that others experience in the community
of the Church.
