In the philosophical system of John Scotus Eriugena, the Uncreated Creating Nature is God who is the Creator of everything. The essence of God transcends all and is unknowable. God reveals himself to human nature through creation and the biblical texts. The analysis of the work of creation allows us to conclude that a Creator exists, that he lives and that he is wisdom. These three conclusions indicate that God exists as three persons. God the Father, who is the essence of God’s nature; God the Son, who is wisdom; and the Holy Spirit, who is life. This conclusion is supported by biblical exegesis. God invites man to seek the truth. Human nature is a reflection of the Uncreated Creating Nature, because man was created in the image and likeness of God, as evidenced by the immortal soul and biblical exegesis. The structure of the human soul is the image of God, and by introspecting his own soul a person can come to the conclusion that God exists and that in his essence he is unknowable. Only God exists alone, and the whole of creation exists only because God sustains everything in existence. There is no intellect among creatures capable of knowing God, yet the history of the world has accumulated various records about God, which result both from the needs of human nature and the need of Christianity not to keep silent about the Creator. To fulfil human needs, various attributes and activities of God are defined. Eriugena’s philosophical system indicates that entrusting God’s secrets to the word is a great effort, but it is a useful work because it can bring people closer to God, which is important and right in every age.
