Abstract

This collection of texts on the issue of distributed cognition comprises seven papers written by scholars from various academic backgrounds in Poland and different disciplines. It aims to spark an interdisciplinary discussion on the controversies raised by Witold Wachowski’s philosophically developed concept of distributed cognition, the concept of affordances, and the so-called ecological heuristics. Wachowski’s book, Distributed Cognition. From Heuristics to Mechanisms [Poznanie rozproszone. Od heurystyk do mechanizmów] (2022), serves as a natural starting point due to the theoretical effort undertaken by its author.
