Abstract

In this article I advance the thesis that the idea of strong supervenience is in tune with the hypothesis of the primordial nature of a spiritual substance and the immaterial origin of individual consciousness. More precisely, I shall inquire whether it is possible, assuming the supervision of individual consciousness on the physical (material), that its primacy (more generally, the primacy of a spiritual substance) over matter can be maintained. I come to the conclusion that the ontic absolute must (can) be pure spirit, which is the source of all spirituality entangled with the body, as well as the material ground on which it is realized. The purpose of this article is to conduct a polemic against naturalistic concepts of consciousness.
