Abstract

The aim of this article is to describe the correlates of psychological well-being of students of education programs. Empirical research was based on a survey presented to 400 students at selected universities in Poland. Three questionnaires were used: WEMWBS (Tennant, Stewart-Brown) to measure mental well-being, PSS-10 (Cohen, Kamarck, Mermelstein) to determine the level of experienced stress and AS (Lent et al.) to measure the level of satisfaction with studies. The research was carried out in the first quarter of 2019. The results indicate that the majority of the surveyed students present an average level of mental well-being, high level of stress and average satisfaction with the studies. The hierarchical regression established that there are three predictors of mental well-being: level of experienced stress, social support and satisfaction with studies. Three predictors explain 38% of the variability of mental well-being. While the stress increases the level of mental well-being decreases. Higher satisfaction with studies and social support provided to students positively influence their well-being.
