Interstate applications against the Russian Federation in the European regional human rights system

Abstract

The subject of this article is the membership of the Russian Federation in the Council of Europe and the European regional human rights protection system created within the Council of Europe. It presents the institution of the interstate complaint provided for in the European Convention on Human Rights, and examines all the cases brought against Russia under Art. 33 of the Convention, showing the eﬀects Russia’s exclusion from the organization would bring in the context of the cases the European Court of Human Rights has considered against Russia.
