There are numerous challenges facing Poland’s local education boards. The aim of this article is to discuss the main problems and the amendments required to the country’s legislation to remedy them. The biggest challenges come from recentralization and underfunding by local authorities. Recentralization should be stopped and adequate sources of educational financing must be found. Another challenge is the provision of education for Ukrainian refugees, especially as regards the amendment of sub-constitutional legal provisions required to secure the right conditions to cater for the needs. The last challenge discussed in the article is the regulation of elective home education (home schooling).
