Abstract

The aim of this article is to present and classify the religious law activities of Romanpopular assemblies during the Republican era. It starts with an attempt to definethe concept of „religious matters,” before moving on to a discussion of specific legalacts. An analysis of the topics of proposed or passed laws and plebiscites showsthat regulations on religious matters can be divided into four groups. The firstconcerns priests, their powers and rights. The second covers issues related to signs, portents and omens and their interpretation. The third is involved with violationsof religious law.
