Abstract

This paper presents the results of research on the accessibility of retail banking services offered by commercial banks operating in Poland, with a focus on ICT and the Polish Sign Language as one of its instruments. The aim was to determine the progress banks have made to cater for the needs of people with a hearing problem. Under current legislation, banks are obliged to ensure the accessibility of services for people with special needs. Our study applied dogmatic and analytical methods (both in relation to current legal regulations and statistical data), as well as surveys. The results of our work confirm the claim that the commercial banks have not fully adapted to the needs of people with difficulties with ICT accessibility.
